Diamond Passing

Goals of this Drill:
This drill works on jump stopping, pivoting and passing.

Requirements:
5 cones, at least 5 players

Coaching Notes:
  • Players need to bend their knees during pivot so they can stay in ready position
  • When jump stopping, players need to land balanced on both feet to avoid being called for travel
Phase 1

  • The player with the ball dribbles to the cone at the center
  • At the cone the player performs a jump stop, pivots right (270 degrees) and passes the ball to the next line
Phase 2

  • After the pass the players follows the ball and joins the line
  • The player that receives the ball now dribbles to the cone, jump stopps, pivots and passes the ball
Phase 3

  • We continue this for 60 seconds and count how many passes we can achieve.
