Stationary Dribbling Drills

Pound Dribble

  • Stand with knees slightly bent, feet shoulder-width apart.
  • Dribble the ball hard about waist height.
  • Start with the strong hand then move on to the weak hand.
  • Vary dribble height.

Low Dribble

  • Bend your knees and dribble the ball below your knees, nice and low.
  • Focus on dribbling with the finger tips.

Crossovers

  • Bounce it side to side in front of you, moving it to the other hand.
  • Keep your stance wide and knees bent.
  • Focus on smooth control — don’t rush!
  • Vary dribble height from low to middle and high.

Front to Back Dribble

  • Dribble the ball in front of your body — push it forward a little, then pull it back toward your foot.
  • Keep the ball bouncing between the front of your foot and your toe line.
  • Stay low and controlled; the ball should move in a short front-to-back line, not side to side.

Figure 8 Dribble Drill

  • Dribble low while weaving the ball between and around your legs in a figure 8 shape.
  • Keep your knees bent and back straight, staying balanced the whole time.
  • Use your fingertips and quick touches — try not to look down at the ball.
