Nike Zoom Rize 2 Review

Pros:
Super lightweight
Excellent traction
Cons:
Lacks a true outrigger

Performance of the Nike Zoom Rize 2:

The Nike Zoom Rize 2 is one of the lightest basketball shoes currently available and only weighs around 360g at a size 9. The upper material is minimal but functional and the traditional lacing system makes it super easy to put this shoe on. The traction pattern uses a pretty hard rubber that is durable enough for outdoor use and doesn't pick up a lot of dust thanks to the well-spaced traction pattern. The foam cushioning in the heel is very comfortable, plush and the Zoom unit in the forefoot provides a lot of bounce. Overall, the Nike Zoom Rise 2 is a solid performer that works especially well for bigger guys (it is worn by Nikola Jokic and Marc Gasol in the NBA).

The Nike Zoom Rize 2 is my personal favorite shoe to play in right now. It has all the necessary features to be enjoyed by bigger post players like Marc Gasol or Nikola Jokic while also appealing to faster, downhill-type guards like Russell Westbrook.

Absolute bangers! I wish the materials felt nicer, but its the only complaint, and they get the job done and keep the shoe light.

The traction was great for me during testing in both regular solid rubber and XDR rubber versions.

The circular traction pattern uses harder rubber that gives you gnarly traction on clean courts. You won't have any problems on dusty courts either thanks to the well-spaced grooves.

The forefoot Zoom feels bouncy and highly effective and the foam is springy and comfortable. Apart from the court feel, you get everything you need from this cushioning!

The full-length injected Phylon feels super plush and the high-PSI Zoom unit in the forefoot is pretty firm when walking but bouncy when you run or jump. Overall, the setup is pretty low-to-the-ground and reponsive.

The upper materials are minimal, form-fitting, decently supportive, and require almost no break-in period.

The lateral TPU support piece that cages the forefoot Zoom provides a lot of stability, torsional support, and prevented me from rolling on the footbed. This isn't the most supportive shoe of all time but I felt secure at all times.

Half a size down felt more secure as the materials do stretch just a bit over time.

The standard rubber’s durability is solid but if you only play outdoors it might make sense to go for the XDR option.

I tested true to size and half a size down and I prefer the slightly tighter fit of the smaller size but they both work.

Go true to size if you have regular wide feet. Wide-footers may want to go half a size up.
