Nike Precision 7 Review

Pros:
Durable Materials
Excellent Traction
Cons:
Dead Forefoot Feel
Breathability Issues

Performance of the Nike Precision 7:

The Precision 7 is a capable budget basketball shoe that targets traction and stability. Most reviewers praise the sticky herringbone grip that bites on clean courts and wipes off dust, though a few reported sliding on some indoor floors. Cushioning is basic budget foam with decent heel protection but a dead forefoot and limited responsiveness. Lockdown and lateral stability are generally strong thanks to an internal heel counter and a wide base, but one reviewer noted a collapsing heel that caused slippage. Materials feel durable for the price with thick mesh, synthetic leather and added fusing, but breathability suffers in spots. Fit runs narrow and snug with secure lockdown, though high volume feet may find the toe box tight. Overall, the Precision 7 is a solid budget basketball shoe with reliable traction.

At $80 this is an instant cop. Traction, materials, fit and support are all strong. Cushioning is decent for the price but lacks big impact protection. For a budget beater shoe it's a very solid choice.

I really enjoy playing in the Precision 7. It gives good speed and I didn't have to worry about slipping even on a dusty court. Ventilation is the biggest downside. Overall it's a solid budget performer.

Right now I'm not liking the shoe. Traction and cushioning feel terrible, materials and support are unimpressive, and the easy-on lacing compromises lockdown. The outsole is durable and it's convenient to slip on, but overall it underperforms the Precision 6.

The traction is good. It grips on clean and dusty courts. If you let dust build up you might slide, so do the occasional wipe.

The traction is the highlight. The herringbone pattern grips really well. It picks up dust but wipes off easily. I got hard stops on a very dusty court.

The traction does not feel good. It's sliding on my floor with no squeak and the bite seems weak. The pattern is chaotic but the rubber looks very durable.

The cushioning is pretty good for the price. You get heel impact protection but the forefoot feels a bit dead. The foam shape can feel sharp on certain plant steps.

The cushioning is typical budget foam but improved over the Precision 5 and 6. It’s not stiff and gives a bit of impact protection. Feels similar to the Jordan 1 Take 5 but slightly better.

The cushioning sucks. There's only minor heel compression and the step-in coverage is weak. It lacks Zoom and doesn't feel responsive.

The materials are solid for the price. Thick mesh upper and synthetic leather at the rear feel durable and comfortable. Tongue padding prevents lace pressure.

Materials are a mixed bag. They added fusing and leather with beefed up padding and a soft tongue. Breathability took a hit though and my feet heated up quickly.

The upper is a puffed mesh that feels comfortable. A seam digs into the top of my foot and padding is light around the tongue and ankle, but it feels okay for the price.

Support is very good. The internal heel counter eliminates slippage and the wide base with an outrigger provides solid lateral stability. Torsional rigidity is adequate.

Support is questionable. The collapsible heel lacks a proper counter and I experienced heel slippage even when tightened. Midfoot and forefoot feel somewhat supportive but containment is uncertain.
