Nike Lebron Witness 9 Review
Pros:
Responsive React X Cushioning
Good Value For Price
Cons:
Dust-Sensitive Traction
Heel Slippage Issues
Performance of the Nike Lebron Witness 9:
The LeBron Witness 9 is a budget update with improved cushioning and upper.
Traction is inconsistent. It grips on clean courts but picks up dust and can slide on dirtier or outdoor floors.
Full-length React X is the highlight. It is soft with good impact protection and favors shock absorption over spring.
Support is solid. TPU counters, a rubber wrap and an outrigger aid stability but some players see heel slippage.
Uppers use synthetic leather, ballistic nylon and textile. They are comfortable but not very breathable and scuff easily.
Fit runs long and slightly tapered. Toe and midfoot feel roomy while forefoot pinch and occasional heel slippage affect some.
Outdoor durability and traction are questionable.
Overall, the LeBron Witness 9 is a solid budget basketball shoe with React X cushioning.

For $105 the Witness 9 is a solid budget offering. It performs well with comfortable React X cushioning and good support. Traction can pick up dust and wide footers may feel forefoot pinch. Good value, especially on sale.

This is the best Witness in a while. Uppers and cushioning are clear upgrades and comfort is excellent. Traction and the narrow/tapered fit hold it back, but the line has improved.

Great value for the price. Full-length React X cushioning is awesome and the shoe is comfortable and spacious. Traction is just okay, but overall the Witness 9 gets the job done as a budget LeBron.

For $105 this is a pretty nice shoe. Cushion and comfort impressed me and the upper is soft. Traction is hit-or-miss on dusty courts and outdoor durability is questionable. I'd recommend it more for bigger players or casual wear.

Traction is good on clean courts. It grips for hard stops. It picks up dust on gym floors, so you'll need to wipe occasionally.

The grip is suspect. They slipped at 33° on the ramp and need heat to really bite. Wipe and warm them up before trusting them on indoor courts.

The traction is mediocre. It works but it's not very grippy or durable. I didn't slip badly, but it's nothing impressive.

Traction is solid on clean courts after a break-in. It picks up dust and will slide on dirtier courts though.

The full-length React X is pretty nice. Heel offers plush impact protection and bounce. Forefoot is thinner but still responsive. Court feel is okay for the price.

The React X midsole is very squishy and comfortable. It gives great underfoot protection and a plush feel, though it is more shock absorbing than springy.

Materials feel solid for the price. The textile adds texture and structure. Ventilation is minimal so it can get toasty with sweaty feet.

The uppers use sturdy synthetic leather panels and a tough jersey vamp. It's a clear upgrade from prior Witness models but it's not very breathable.

Comfort is there, but the upper lacks airflow. It feels comfortable and not pinchy, but don't expect a breathable shoe.

Support is good. Internal heel counter and lacing provide solid lockdown. Very minor heel slippage on one shoe. Wide base and outrigger aid lateral stability and torsional rigidity.

Double-thickness heel counters and a top-loaded shank provide solid containment and torsional stability. I felt supported on court, though long-term rubber breakdown is a concern.

Heel containment is the main support issue. The square heel causes heel slippage while the rest of the upper feels roomy and not overly restrictive.

Support and lockdown are pretty good. You get a TPU heel counter, rubber wrap, and an outrigger for lateral stability. Heavier players may want more rigidity.

The fit hugs the foot with a half-bootie upper and internal lacing. I felt pinching in the forefoot where the materials meet. It breaks in some but can remain uncomfortable for wider feet.

The outsole is chunky and thick, so these should hold up well outdoors. The compound and heat can affect longevity, but the rubber thickness helps durability.

Outsole rubber varies by colorway and it's not as durable as the Street Flare. I wouldn't expect standout outdoor longevity.

Not great for outdoor. The traction grooves are thin and the outsole doesn't feel tanky, so it could wear or rip on rough courts.
