Performance of the Converse Shai 001:
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's long-awaited debut shoe with Converse makes a good impression.
Reviewers agree that the traction is near perfect. It's reliable, fast, and plays well on various courts.
The cushioning is minimal. The Phylon foam is decent at best, but you can feel the forefoot Zoom Air bag.
The materials feel light during play despite being of average weight. The upper is secure and flexible. The only downside is the lack of ventilation and breathability.
Thanks to the upper, the support and lockdown are also secure. The eyelet setup and heel counter keep you contained during play.
The fit is also better than expected. Most reviewers were comfortable going true to size.
The Converse Shai 001 lives up to the hype. The traction and support are excellent.
